It's all about the economy, stupid!

I wonder what ever happened to 'Singapore for Singaporeans'?
Wasn't that the slogan championed by LKY in the '60s when he argued against Ja'afar Albar's 'Ultra' struggle for Malay special rights?
Now, my heart goes out to the Singaporeans, not just the Malays but also Chinese and Indians who are feeling smothered by the huge influx of FTs (foreign talents). And MORE to come with the republic's 6.9 million population target by 2030.
Here's one instance where some Singaporeans could no longer repress their feelings of being 'boxed' in:

What do we know? The meek Singaporeans are finally feeling the heat and beginning to voice their objections openly.
Well, when my niece visited me a couple of years ago, she had complained about the overwhelming presence of FTs at her workplace, the HDB flat, the buses, the MRT, the shopping malls, practically everywhere. At a personal level, she feared her job would be given to a Pinoy with a college degree but can't do the work that she, with an O level, can easily accomplish. I doubt if she can cite racial discrimination (not because some smart alec Malaysian editor had pooh-poohed race as a myth) but because Pinoys are actually Malays, only most of them are Christians.
And she's not alone. Even Fandi Ahmad, the Football Star and former Lions Captain, was sidelined in favour of a coach with an Eastern European name.

However, before Malaysian bloggers scream 'ethnic cleansing', here's PM Lee Jr's take:

Somehow, that failed to assure a Singapore Malay MP and a Malaysian pro-UMNO blog:

PAP MP Zaqy Mohamad (Chua Chu Kang GRC) today asked for the Government's assurance that the status and role of Malay men in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) would continue to improve as the population expands with newcomers.
He was the latest Malay MP of several this week to touch on how the Malay-Muslim community will be affected as the population heads towards a projected 6.9 million in 2030.
They have expressed concern during the Parliamentary debate on the Population White Paper that a disproportionately small number of immigrants are Muslim or from Malaysia and Indonesia.
Mr Zaqy noted that the Ministry of Defence has stated in the past that it is evolving its policy on Malays in top positions in the SAF and "is in sync and aware of where the community wants to head."
But with four out of ten marriages already between Singaporeans and foreigners, Mr Zaqy wanted to know "what will be the position of our Malay sons of Singapore next to those of families with foreign spouses and new citizens?"
When the sons from local-foreign marriages reach the age to enter National Service, he said that he hoped that "our national security narrative pertaining to the Malays serving in the defence sector would have also evolved, and that all sons of Singapore get equal footing in all opportunities, including that in our national security services."
